2026Botanical Garden St. Gallen 05/06/202627/09/2026 AGENDA Opening ‘From the Cosmos to the Bud,’ featuring two fascinating exhibitions on the theme of evolution, on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. Guided tours during the Garden Party (in German): Sun 07/06 11 – 12 a.m. with Dr. Hans-Rudolf Zulliger Guided tours during the Climate Week (in German): Sun 13/09 2 – 3 p.m. with Dr. Hans-Rudolf Zulliger The Swiss Botanical Garden St. Gallen in the district of Stephanshorn is home to around 8,000 plant species from all over the world on an area of 2 hectares. In addition to the tropical house with rainforest plants, succulents and orchids, the architecturally remarkable alpine house is also a special feature. Also adjacent to the Garden, is the Natural History Museum, with a fascinating exhibition on the biodiversity, geology and history of the region.
In the outdoor area ‘Walk Through Time… from Stardust to Us’ by the Foundation for the Third Millennium, exploring the origin and evolutionary history of Earth. In the Orangery, ‘Evolution of Plants,’ based on the Evolution Garden at the Bern Botanical Garden.

I strive to unite my research, outreach and teaching in order to improve scientific understanding and literacy in our society. My research examines the effects of global change on ecological systems, my teaching aims to inspire future scientists and citizens of a rapidly changing world.
It is a passion for nature at all scales that motivates not only my work, but also my travels to remote corners of the globe.
