The impressive panoramic mountain ‘Vorder Glärnisch’ with an altitude of 2328 meters, consisting of limestones from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, is the perfect setting for the exhibition „Walk through time…’ and its evolutionary history of the earth.
The circular trail of about 1 kilometer starts at the Glarus trainstation building, at the Glarnerland Nature Center, leads along the Linth river over the Ennenda bridge and on through the Volksgarten back to the Glarus station.
The event is organized by the UNESCO World Heritage Tectonic Arena Sardona Association, which makes the impressive mountain landscape of the Sardona World Heritage Site with its unique geological phenomena tangible, maintains and protects it.
With its alpine mountains and valleys, the wonderful area of the Sardona World Heritage Site bears witness to up to 300 million years of mountain formation, making Glarus an ideal place to marvel at the secrets of our 4.6 billion year old geological history.
